Primary Function:
To advise and assist the Muir Group plc in providing safe and healthy working conditions in accordance with legal requirements and Company Policy for Health and Safety at work. Prevent accidents and dangerous occurrences on site and promote a culture of good practice and accountability.
To be responsible for maintaining and implementing the safety as well as environmental management controls and procedures within the Company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage and implement processes, procedures and systems, ensuring they comply with legislation and company policies
- Provide guidance and support on health, safety and environmental issues and to improve performance to best practice
- Carrying out site inspections and audits across multiple projects at different stages of the Construction life-cycle and compile the reports to be issued weekly/monthly
- Highlight common observations and propose improvement plans
- Mentor and coach site staff on all aspects of Health & Safety
- Manage all Health & Safety audits, both internal and external
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Policies & Procedures
- Travel on business as required including carrying out inspections in other regions
- Conduct incident/accident investigations and prepare reports for internal/external purposes
- Prepare and deliver site safety training and induction programmes including training assessments
- Providing project advice and guidance to management and contractors
- Identifying hazards across a varied risk profile
- Working with site teams to ensure a homogenous approach to site safety
- Ensure adequate noise, COSHH and Risk Assessments provided and keep records
- Monitor the health and safety performance of Management, Supervision, Contractors and Sub-contractors - report deficiencies to the Senior Manager on site.
- Any other reasonable task required by the Company.
Key Selection Criteria:
- NEBOSH (or equivalent) qualified
- A strong character who can deal with challenging environments
- IOSH member (Chartered preferred)
- Have sound knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations within the Construction Industry.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, training, presentation and report writing skills
- Confident in decision making and providing sound advice
- Ability to represent the company in a professional manner
- IT literate
- Willing to travel on a regular basis
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
